比賽分爲兩隊參加，每隊11人（一般情況下，比賽期間每隊允許替換三名替補球員），其中必須有1名守門員。全場比賽爲90分鐘，分爲上、下兩個半場，每半場45分鐘。
上、下半場之間的休息時間不得超過15分鐘。比賽中有1名主裁判和2名邊線裁判，每個半場，主裁判可以根據場上的傷病和換人耗時情況進行補時。
如果比賽必須決出勝負，則90分鐘內兩隊若打平，進行上下半時各爲15分鐘的加時賽，若依然打平，則通過罰點球分出勝負。
